It is very surreal but we are parents now! I am currently laying in bed and enjoying watching Josh and Jonas bond; Josh is a great dad already
. We had a wonderful visit from the new grandparents and aunts and uncle. My parents arrived in time to hear my last push through the rather thin walls, then hear the new baby cry. And I was delighted to hear and see that through the course of the day we made my dad cry 3 times. What a softie
. Everyone, even the rather hesitant Auntie Sarah and Aunt Janell and Uncle Matt did a great job of holding the baby. Sarah also made a visit around noon during her lunch hour where she got to see me suffering through the beginning of the worst of the contractions…what a dedicated sister
.
Jonas was very awake for his first few hours, and is now very sleepy, which is apparently a normal thing, as he has had quite a taxing day today too. His heart rate has been a little low over the past few hours, and he has had a few exams by Sylvia one of the midwives who attended us today, and she has consulted with colleagues. At this point it is not a problem as his color and his nursing are good and even when sleeping he makes all kinds of cute noises and hand gestures, but prayers would be appreciated. We have the pager number and direct number for Sylvia if anything starts to look questionable tonight.
I’m going to try to feed him again, then brush my teeth and get some sleep.
